Track II
Well, I just got back from practice. Yesterday was like 57 degrees and I wore shorts. But noooo, today when it was 76 degrees I just HAD to wear sweat pants. Besides being scorching hot, I ran 5 laps; that's 2 1/2 miles. I know that doesn't seem like a lot to you, but it was a big accomplishment for me. The terrain was kinda hilly and loopy (hmm, I was running on the Hyre Loop...). I ran in intervals though. I ran two straight laps, no stopping at all, took a 30 second break to drink my Gatorade, ran another two laps (with a few walkin distances) and took another 30 second break, and then finally my last lap. Throughout the last 2 laps, I felt like I was going to pass-out, so I kept my head straight and looked ahead. I starting singing Sunday School songs like : Jesus Loves Me, The happy Day Express, (I thought of the little kids in the Beginner Dept.) and Light The Fire. Wow, that really helped. Basketball really helped a lot though with the practices every day after school during the season. But with God on my side, I can do it, and I'm not quitting. I just have to keep pushing myself...
Tomorrow we are going up to the Ellet track. That is 1/4 of a mile I THINK, but I'm not sure. So, it's half of the Hyre Loop. (Aren't I the mathematician?)
The main reason I am doing track is to build up my endurance, get healthy, and be able to look back at myself and realize that I can do it. *I have so much respect now for runners. They work so hard every day and they have stuck with it. --Good job guys!--
