True Friend?
What is the definition of a true friend? Well, in my own expiriences, my definition is that trust is a mutual feeling between both people, along with respect. That person won't say negative comments to you to hurt you and they will never point out your faults so that you feel inferior you them. A true friend will love you and comfort. A true friend will encourage and strengthen your walk with the Lord. That person will honor you opinions. A true friend should be someone who you can laugh with.
The Lord Jesus Christ gave us the definition of a true friend in John. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:13). Jesus is the pure example of a true friend for He laid down His life for His "friends."
I have made many mistakes when it comes to choosing my friends. Some of my "friends" have told me my other "friends" think that I am in the way, annoying, always around. These people were very close to me at one point in my life, before they got sucked into peer-pressure. But that's no excuse. I always knew that these people did not contain the qualities of a friend listed above. I always felt like "good company" to them.
Thankfully, God has given me many true-friends. These people have ALL of the qualities listed above, and many more. When I am around them, I feel good all the time. And I'm not saying that we never have our bad times, because, well, that's normal. What I'm saying is that these people are those whom I know will always forgive me and I will always forgive them. (You guys know who you are :-D)
