Learn From Aladdin

Beeeeee yourself!

Aladdin, the well-known Disney movie, may be meant for little kids, (though some of us big kids enjoy it as well...) it has a lot of good advice. For instance, the scene where Aladdin is on Jasmine's balcony under the identity of Prince Ali, Genii turns into a bee in order to help him "woo" her. He whispers into Al's ear "Just beeee yourself!" Hahaha, because he is a bee, this little line is humorous, but it has a whole lot of truth in it.

Many times, people, especially teen-agers act differently than their true selves. Why? To fit in with a certain social group, be "cool", or maybe because they do not like themselves. First off, God loves you for who you are, just as you are.

I know I have had some trouble in this area. I tried to change to fit in with some of the girls on the team, be liked by a guy, grab attention towards myself, and other stuff like that. I realized that I wasn't happy and in my case, wasn't becoming friends with the "cool" kids, wasn't attracting the guy, but I was drawing attention to myself.. because I was acting like an idiot!

So, my venting time is over and I leave you with these short, simple, words with a lot of potential:

The Never-Ending Day

Today was a looong day. Not necessarily in a bad way, it just was.

First off, Emily spent the night last night while Audrey and Beckie were at the Adams being good law abiding citizens. LOL. Anyways, we rented a movie, played DX-Ball for what seemed like hours trying to get past the fourth level, played Tony Hawk (as my last post specified), ate potato chips, made bracelets, and "hung out". This morning she had to leave early. Mom took me and Audrey shopping for bathing suits. Audrey got a one-peice for camp, but other than that we found nothing. We started out at ValuCity, went to Target, and the mall. After Target, we were all getting pretty hungry so we got some McDonalds. I think I speak for all the female Hembree women who at that food today that it was NASTY. Now, you may think I like to criticize food, which I don't. Anyways, as I was saying, the fries were floppy and too salty, my nuggets were pland, and mine and Aud's Powerade was gross because they put ice in it. I mean, seriously, ICE in POWERADE?? (No offense, if that is how you drink it...). Audrey's contacts were bugging the crap out of her -again- so she took it out and attempted to put it back in. Well, I had my window open so it got dried out. Mom told her to rub the sweat off her pop cup to moisten the contact but that didn't work out too well. Audrey then did the most unsanitary, grossest, funniest thing possible: she popped that baby into her mouth. When she took it out, it was worse than before. It fell right out of her eye and into her open purse. We finally found it clinging to the side of her mascara bottle. We got out of the car and went to Sears Optical to get her some solution. Finally, she got it in and we could continue our shopping crusade. I felt so bad for her and wanted to hug her, but I knew she would smack me. Oh well, I love ya Audrey! On the flip side, I get to have $5 off my next purchase of $25 at Old Navy. :)

Tony Hawk Pro Skater: Emily & Mine Obsession. Every time she comes over to spend the night, we spend so much time playing this game on the old Nintendo 64. It's somewhat of a bonding expirience. "You can't stick that trick?! You idiot!" But, hey, it's fun and best friends are supposed to act stupid. 

Bored and Bloggin` II

I'm bored. What's new? To keep me from being bored and to keep you from reading my lame posts from when I am bored, does anybody have any remedies to my consistency of boredom? comment me on that.
Anyways, here's another overview of my day.

• Per 2- American Foundations: continued watching the movie (i have that teacher two periods in a row)
• Per 3- Math: finished up my math exam

• Per 6- Recess/Lunch: self explanitory...
• Per 7- Gym: played soccer
• Per 8- Orchesta: sat around being bored while rest of class took assesment

• 3:05- went home
• 3:30-present- hmm..i lost track, but not much

My second hole in my right ear was bleeding and still is sore.. ouch..PAIN! I got my published book back .I did spellcheck and million times, but there are still a few typos and printing errors. If you go to my church, I'll try to bring a copy on sunday eve or wednesday. *I cannot wait for the weekend! we ( my mom, Audrey, and me) are going shopping for *ahem* clothes and bathing suits on saturday.

finally! the hembree home has internet again! *hallelujah chorus* LOL, of course, i didn't miss it -scoffs- no way...:) anyways, nothing worth typing has happend this week really except the fact that it's exam week. i dont think i did too hot on my language arts or american foundations exams. i had math, part of science, and part of french today. i think i did well on them. in l.a. today we went to the LRC and got on the computers to find poems for Poetry Day. my poem was entitled "Cellar Dwellers". it's about pink peanut packing Styrofoam. lol. and then in amer. found. we are watching "National Treasure" in choir we are watching "Grease" (i love the end of the year..movies movies movies!)
well, since we got internet, dad had to totally redo the computer so i better go and install AIM b4 audrey gets mad!

my dad is in the process of trying to hook up the web back at our home. i actually don't miss it that much. i am doing more "prductive" things, like studying for my exams, spending more time in His word, and stuff like that.

Thurday Already

hey, sorry i havent posted in awhile, but our internet at home isnt working. my duet went well and so did my orchestra playing. last night was the acedemic all-star awards ceremony at kenmore. i got a trophy, certificates, and the highlight of the evening: a pencil. oooh, lol. it was really nice. i had to walk across the stage while my principal read about my hobbies and such. on friday i am being inducted into the national junoir honor society ar noon in the LRC. i have to dress up for school tomorrow.
well, i gotta get off now bcuz i am at school, but ill try to post something else later.

Sunday

Today is Sunday. sunday school was good. i felt kinda bad because Pocahontas would have been tied with the skillz had not i missed the lightning round question. but, we are trailing behind them by one point. miraculously, the quesidillaz are catching up--two points behind us. its heating up, folks. the girl's ensemble, consisting of myself and audrey (altos) and kristen, emily, brittany, tyleasha, and beckie (sopranos) sang "stand in awe" today for special music. me and audrey were so nervous. we were like praying in the choir loft before going to sing. i asked james to record it so i could hear it. i think we sounded good. i could tell audrey was really nervous while singing and then i started to smile uncontrolably. why? i do not know!
tomorrow i have to go down to choir 1st period to practice for the spring concert on tuesday with mrs. laktash and her 1st per. choir class. i am in 5th period and our two classes will be singing together. we are singing rockin' at the hop and study hall blues with them. i am part of either a duet or a trio (i'm not sure) with two other girls from her other 2 classes. i am really nervous but have been praying HARD. on friday we had a voice testing on "habri nzuri". i was lucky number one. i sang in a group with one soprano and one tenor. i got a 32-- perfect score! :) that made my day because i am not the fond of that song. it sounds to lion king-ish. oh, and i have to wear all black on tuesday for orchestra. im gonna be steaming hot! especially with all those people singing, whew, i'll be boiling!
man, i am soo overwhelmed lately. on tuesday i have that concert (-), on wednesday i have an awards ceremony (-), friday i am being inducted into the junior honor society, and saturday is cedar pont (++) i am looking forward to that!

Today was the All City Akron Middle School Track and Feild Championship. It seems like a big deal, but it wasn't that much different from the other meets. I ran, as usual, the 400m dash. When I was like halfway done, I heard some of the guys from Hyre going "C'mon Liz! You ain't got no worries! You go girl!" That pushed me hard. I also received a nice motivating phone call last night that helped me immensly :)of course, that stuff that kept me going was the cheering from my family and knowing that God was on my side. Just as I was about to cross the line, two other girls, one from Jennings and the other from my school, crossed at almost the exact same time. I was in heat 1. The main difference in this meet was that whoever gets in the top 3 from BOTH HEATS gets a medal, 4-6 place gets a ribbon. I evidently did not receive any awards because other girls from heat 2 pushed me back. But, its okay. I ran my heart out. I was soo nervous for this meet. I was praying soo hard that I would put thsi all in God's hands and whatever God wants to happen will. I don't know what I would do without God and prayer. Weak, that's what I would be. I know as a fact that I would not have accomplished many of the things I have if I never knew Him to go to Him for wisdom, endurance, and patience. --The boys 1600m relay team from Hyre was scratched because nobody could run it. I went up to coach and was like "You know, I would have ran it if you would have asked" because girls are allowed to run in boys' events, but boys aren't allowed to in girls. But, Dad told me "I don't think the guys would appreciate it if a girl ran in their event". I guess he's right, men can be like that. LOL, j/p :-D After the meet, I went home, washed up, and went to YG. I didn't eat any dinner so Dad bought me Arbys on the way home. Mmm, I Y Arbys!

Weekend woot woot

Hey! sorry i haven't posted in a couple days. the teens got back from camp patmos last night. it was so much fun! heres a thorough list of what went on.

first, we got onto the 8 o'clock ferry after the two hour drive up to marblehead. we got on the shirley irene and didn't get to Kellys Island until about 8:30ish. We drove up to the camp where Adam and them had pizza and a bonfire for us. We sang some worship songs around the fire and went to our cabins.All of us then went into the feild and/pr basketball court. I sat on a big cement bench and talked with audrey, becky g., tylesha, kristen, and monique. we then went into bed only to be woken up at 7:30 to get ready for breakfast. the dining hall is under renovation so we had to eat our tater tots and eggs out on picnic tables. after breakfast we got our assignments. First i swept the chapel floor and mopped stage with kristen. then i helped clint, becky g., james, dj and a whole bunch of other people load, transport, and dump tree branches over by the bon fire to burn. i rode on the tail of the pick-up. i got a whole bunch of scratches on my arms. i even got a tan line from a band-aid! after that assignment, we all had ham and cheese for lunch. i had too much to eat. kristen a. wanted to race me from the lighthouse to a bench. she beat me :(. lol. after lunch, kristen, audrey and i cleaned out the camp's two vans and washed them. when that was said and done we set up a couple tables around the pophouse and scraped ice out of the deep freezers. that was the end. audrey and i went to take showers and pack. all of us got a free camp patmos tshirt.we left the camp around 4:45 and got the 5 o'cloch ferry. we stopped at mcdonalds on the way home.

CP WW!!

Man, I cannot wait until Friday! The YG is headin on up to Kelly's Island for the Camp Patmos Work Weekend. I love riding up there, seeing all the familiar sights, riding on the ferry and tram, pickin` out your bunk. Wow, I am getting all anxious now! The weekend is where we help clean/fix up the camp for the summer. Unfortunatly, my best friend Emily, won't be there. But, even though I'm gonna miss her, I know I will have an awesome time. I love my yg and can't wait to share this expirience with them.

MAY NUMBER ONE

Today is May first. The "Skillz That Killz" took their lead back from us in the Quiz Bowl. But it's ok..we'll come back. I didn't do much at all this weekend. On Friday, we had a pretty tough practice up at Ellet. I came home and we ordered pizza. then yesterday i went over to my grandma's to visit. she was in the hosptial and thankfully she is doing better. we came home and my mom, dad, and brother went to buy philip's friend a present for his b-day that was today. me and audrey watched beauty and the beast before she went out. today i went to church and when i came home, i didn't do much. i went to choir practice, the evening service, then came home. i made mac and cheese (the good stuff) and watched the contender. wow, joey got hurt reall bad tonight during a match. he had to like almost get hauled out on a gurny into an ambulance.
idky, but l8ly i have been into watching disney movies. we are watching teh aristocats in french (im forced to on that one..no say) and like i said i watched beauty and the beast yesterday (dont make fun..!) and i watched hercules today. i think the main reason i like those movies is bcuz of the music. all of my favorite movies have songs by Alan Menken. that guy writes some really good music.
i have to do my speech on tuesday!!! im not ready and im gonna have to write it all tomorrow bcuz my teacher never gave my report back to me. oh, adn tomorrow i have a track make-up meet from when it got rained out 2 weeks ago. i have this gut feeling that they are going to make me run the 4x4 relay. they timed us running the 400m on friday and i was one of the top girls, and they told me that they think i would do really good in it. im nervous and im afraid that if i do it, i will let my fellow relayers down :(. *shut up elizabeth: think positive!*
-yawns- wow, i am tired and it is only a quarter past 9. i think audrey already went to bed.
i cant wait until this weekend. thursday actually... i have team pictures and then i get to go to the all daughters banquet. i may have said this before, but if i do qualify for the championship then i will get miss the practice that day bcuz of the banquet. oh, and then i will have to go on friday, the same day that we are leaving for CAMP PATMOS!!!! im gonna have to pack ahead. wow, i love camp! unfortunatly, we wont b able to clean the pool this year bcuz some other church already did. and i wanted to do it so bad bcuz i never did it bfore! oh well, what can u do
hmm..well im tired and my fingers are beginning to hurt so TTYL!
